Frequently Asked Questions
About Contributions
Is The New Morocco open to contributions?
Absolutely. The New Morocco operates as a crowdsourced platform that depends entirely on contributions from our global community. We actively encourage participation from anyone who shares our commitment to high-quality, expansive discourse about Morocco's place in the world.
Our crowdsourced approach means:
- All content comes from contributors, not staff writers
- We welcome diverse perspectives and even contradictory viewpoints
- Contributors retain ownership of their work
- We facilitate dialogue rather than dictate direction
Contributors may submit:
- Critical essays and analytical pieces
- Creative writing and poetry
- Visual art and photography
- Data visualizations and interactive projects
- Participatory journalism projects
- Interdisciplinary research
What is your curation process?
Rather than traditional editorial control, we practice curatorial selection based on quality criteria aligned with our vision. We curate for contributions that demonstrate:
- Substantive engagement with Morocco's complexity, history, or global connections
- Rigorous research or creative process appropriate to the medium
- Clear articulation of ideas, arguments, or artistic vision
- Original perspective that advances discourse rather than repeating familiar narratives
- Appropriate methodology whether academic, journalistic, artistic, or hybrid approaches
Our curation excludes extremist ideologies and exclusionary worldviews that contradict our commitment to expansive discourse. We seek the highest quality work that contributes meaningfully to understanding Morocco's place in the world while maintaining our platform's integrity.
Language and Accessibility
Is The New Morocco only published in English?
While our primary language is English to ensure global accessibility, we recognize that meaningful discourse about Morocco necessarily involves multilingual perspectives. We welcome submissions in Arabic, Tamazight and French. particularly when the language choice is integral to the work's meaning or cultural significance. If submissions are in Tamazight we kindly ask for a translation in any of the three languages English, Arabic or French.
Editorial Vision
What is The New Morocco's editorial line?
The New Morocco deliberately avoids imposing an editorial line in the traditional sense. Our independence depends on remaining open to the full spectrum of perspectives about Morocco's place in the world.
Our only editorial commitment is to:
- Quality Standards: We apply criteria for intellectual rigor, creative excellence, and methodological soundness
- Vision Alignment: Contributions must engage meaningfully with Morocco's place in the world
- Expansive Discourse: We seek work that broadens rather than narrows conversation
- Inclusion of Perspectives: We actively encourage multiple, even conflicting viewpoints that meet our quality standards
- Independence: We remain free from institutional, political, or commercial influence in our curation decisions
Because we are crowdsourced, our contributors shape the conversation. We facilitate rather than direct, ensuring that Morocco's complexity is reflected through the diversity of voices we platform. This approach means you'll find perspectives that complement, challenge, and sometimes contradict each other which we believe is essential for authentic discourse.

Our crowdsourced model ensures that no single institution or organization shapes our direction. The conversation emerges organically from our contributors and community.
